White House Supports Bill to Ban Risky Apps like TikTok

On Tuesday, American national security adviser Jack Sullivan said in a statement that the White House has welcomed the bill to ban risky apps like TikTok. He stated that action should be taken against technologies that create risks for the country. The White House has urged Congress to pass the law and send it to the President’s desk.

Jack Sullivan said that this law will empower the US government to prevent some governments from exploiting technology services operated in the United States, which create risks to sensitive data of people and national security of the country. It’s worth noting that his statement came after a group of senators led by Senators Mark Warner and John Thune presented the bill.

This bill will enable the US Department of Commerce to review, prevent, and address technology-based threats posed by foreign adversaries by strengthening information communication and technology transactions. These threats, like those posed by apps such as TikTok, create risks to national security.

FBI Director Concerned about TikTok’s Chinese Control
